About Hanjin Manila Clam Festival

“Catching Manila clams on a tidal flat providing a wealth of food.”

The Hanjin Manila Clam Festival is held annually at the Hanjinpogu Port. Dangjin, with well-developed tidal flats and a clean natural environment, is a producer of various types of fish and shellfish. The coastal waters across from Hanjin is known as a major Manila clam fishery, and the area has a well-developed Manila clam farm. As such, Manila clams have long been a major source of income for the local fishermen, and other residents have also caught Manila clams for their own consumption.

Manila clams are rich in amino acids as well as taurine, which is known to boost energy and strength. It is highly nutritious and tasty, in addition to being easily digestible. The protein nutritive value of Manila clams is 100, similar to chicken eggs that are referred to as “nutritionally complete food.” It is digested and absorbed easily, without irritating the liver and intestines, and this is why it is highly recommended as a source of nutrition for children, seniors and even patients suffering from an illness.
